The freshly minted Asian Games gold medalist needs it.
Well, this sounds familiar.
After going all out to help Gilas Pilipinas capture the elusive crown in the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, Scottie Thompson earned the right to celebrate the historic win however he desired.
He could’ve staged his own concert in the middle of EDSA (or halt the traffic in Commonwealth Avenue for a VIP pass?) with Justin Brownlee as his backup singer and motorists would’ve given them a pass. But Scottie isn’t crazy like that.

To treat himself for a job well done, he went on vacation with family and friends. The destination? One of his and his wife’s favorites: Japan. Yep, Scottie and Jinky Thompson have been to the Land of the Rising Sun before. They were there after Barangay Ginebra San Miguel vanquished the Bay Area Dragons in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup finals and when Jinky broke the news to Scottie that they were having a baby boy.
In their return to the land of mouthwatering tempura and sashimi, the Thompsons were now a gang of three. Also joining them were actress Karla Estrada and another friend named Jam Ignacio, who posted photos of their Japan trip.
On their visit to the world-famous Dotonbori district in Osaka, they met up with a well-known basketball personality, both in Japan and in the Philippines. None other than Thompson's Gilas Pilipinas teammate Kiefer Ravena.
Still playing in the Japan B. League for the Shiga Lakestars, Manong Kiefer has been living in the country for quite some time now. He has shared his beautiful experiences in the past, along with other Filipino imports playing in Japan.
Kiefer might’ve initiated this playful convo while catching up with the reigning PBA MVP.
Kiefer: Congrats sa Asian Games!
Scottie: Thank you, bro!
Kiefer: Kailan ka lalaro dito?
Scottie: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Nope, none of it happened. Or did it?
