It was another tough outing for Gilas Pilipinas Youth in the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2024 Tuesday, July 2.

Gilas Boys buckled against Puerto Rico, dropping a 98-53 decision to finish Group A play with a 0-3 mark.

Unlike previous beatdowns at the hands of Lithuania and Spain, the Philippines actually showed promise against Puerto Rico, even taking a 24-16 lead after one.

However, Gilas Boys combined to only score 10 points in the middle quarters, with Puerto Rico using a 32-6 second quarter to break the game open, and a 30-4 third quarter to pull away and leave no doubt.

Joaquin Ludovice led the way for Gilas Boys with 13 points, followed by Kurt Velasquez with 10.

Five players finished in double figures for Puerto Rico, led by Jordan Dill with 15.

Things do not get easier for Gilas Boys in the World Cup, as the Philippines will take on Team USA next in the round of 16.
