The tournament serves as a de facto tryout for Team USA's 3x3 teams.
Filipino-American Vanessa De Jesus could be one of the next players for Team USA's 3x3 teams. That's after De Jesus and the Duke Blue Devils reached the finals of the USA Basketball 3X Nationals.
According to Team USA, "the 3X Nationals serve as an evaluation for selection to various 2023 USA Basketball 3x3 men's and women's national teams."
De Jesus showcased her wares with Duke, reaching the finals of the meet. The Blue Devils, however, fell against Creighton University in the finals, 21-17.
Despite coming up short in the championship round, the Duke players, including De Jesus proved why they can be great 3x3 players for Team USA. All four Blue Devils scored five or more points in pool play.
Whether or not De Jesus did enough to be part of the US national team is still to be determined.
