Kiefer Ravena is a champion again, taking the B2 championship with the Shiga Lakes in Japan's B.League.
Kiefer Ravena is a champion again.
After the horror second season in Japan, where his Shiga Lakes were demoted to the second division, Kiefer Ravena helped fuel his squad’s triumphant return to the B.League’s top ranks, winning the B2 championship.
As the team dubbed their 2023-24 campaign as the “Get Back!” season, Kiefer and the Lakes were ultra-focused from the start.
The result was a 44-16 record, good for the Western Conference Championship and the no. 2 seed in the B2 Playoffs.
Once the postseason started, Shiga overcame an early elimination game, with Kiefer scoring his Japan career-high of 30 points to allow the Lakes to live and fight another day.
As the Lakes fought for many days, the team refused to lose any more, wrapping up the B2 Playoffs with six straight wins on the way to the title.
Kiefer, who got his first basketball championship since his Ateneo days in the UAAP, was thankful.
“I got one championship,” Kiefer said, as he teased his younger brother Thirdy with his post-win speech.
“I can’t thank you enough… It’s always a pleasure playing in front of you guys [Shiga fans].”
