Free agent Thirdy Ravena spends training overseas with Golden State Warriors’ Klay Thompson

Free agent Thirdy Ravena shared a snap with Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson, the Pinoy hopper posted on social media on Thursday, June 13.

Ravena, who left the San-en Neophoenix after four years to enter free agency, is in the United States to spend the offseason training and stay in tip-top basketball shape.

“Got to play with @klaythompson today,” Ravena wrote in the post. 


Thompson, a four-time NBA champion, is coming off a disappointing season that saw the Warriors fail to advance to the playoffs after coming up short against the Sacramento Kings in the Play-In tournament.

One half of the Splash Brothers, the 34-year-old sharpshooter averaged 17.9 points on 43 percent shooting from the field and 38 percent beyond the arc this season.

 

 

Meanwhile, in Year 4 in Japan B. League, Ravena posted 12.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists on an efficient 52.2 percent shooting in 57 games. 

 

The former Ateneo Blue Eagle helped NeoPhoenix finish atop of the Central Division and claimed the no.2 seed in the Playoffs before falling against eventual champions Hiroshima Dragonflies in the quarterfinals.

Ravena was even named as the league’s Impressive Asia Player of the Year awardee.

Thirdy, the first Filipino player to be part of the Japan B.League Asian Quota, joins a handful list of Filipino Asian imports who are searching for a new team that includes Kai Sotto, Rhenz Abando, Bobby Ray Parks, and Matthew Wright.
