Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala reigns supreme in the singles and doubles events at the ITF W100 Vitoria-Gasteiz in Spain.
In a career-defining moment, Filipina tennis prodigy Alex Eala achieved an unprecedented feat by pulling off a twin title campaign at the ITF W100 Vitoria-Gasteiz in Spain.
The 19-year-old Filipina tennis pride and her 28-year-old veteran French partner, Estelle Cascino, encountered a challenging match against Lia Karatancheva of Bulgaria and Diana Marcinkevica of Latvia, before ultimately triumphing 6-3, 2-6, 10-4, to clinch their second doubles crown.
This is the duo's second victory since their impressive upset win against the top-seeded duo of Jessika Ponchet from France and Maia Lumsden from the United Kingdom with a score of 7-5, 7-6(4) in the Finals at the ITF W75 Croissy-Beaubourg last March.
Just one day after claiming victory in the doubles tournament, Eala continued her winning streak with a hard-fought 6-4, 6-4 triumph over Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva of Andorra in the singles final.
Overwhelmed with tears of joy, Eala embraced this historic achievement as a testament to her unwavering dedication, resilience, and enduring support from her team and fans.
“ITF W100 🏆🏆!!! This win means the world to me, it even made me ugly cry😭,” she posted on Instagram.
“I am so proud because this represents the culmination of so much hard work. Securing my biggest titles yet in both singles and doubles is a fairytale finish, and I’m overwhelmed with emotion. This will always have a special place in my heart, and I leave here with a pocket full of great memories and the will to work harder,” Eala added, as this is the first time she won a W100-level event.
With these dual victories, Eala is poised to boost her singles ranking, which is currently no. 155 in the world.
