Filipino racer Iñigo Anton nabbed back-to-back rookie wins in the final round of the 2024 Formula 4 Australian Championship earlier this month at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.

Anton, born in Baguio City, was able to participate in the curtain closer of the F4 Australia’s first season since 2019, placed highest among rookies in the first two races last September 7 and 8, before meeting an untimely bump with a retirement in the final race.

Because of its format, F4 Australia also rewards the best performing rookie in each race, with the Filipino topping the rookies two out of three times that he participated during the weekend.

In Race 1, Anton finished seventh – marking a tremendous start to his Formula 4 career in the Australian Championship.

Then in Race 2, he improved his result, ending up with P5.

Unfortunately for Anton, who races for China-based team BlackArts Racing, his streak was cut short by a retirement in Race 3.

The three races saw three different winners all coming from the same team – Evans GP. Tiago Rodriguez took the opening win in Race 1 while Cooper Webster and Kai Daryanani won Race 2 and 3, respectively.

On social media, Anton relished being able to represent the Philippines well during the race weekend in Malaysia.

“I am beyond grateful to bring home these 2 trophies and proudly raise the Philippine flag as the back-to-back Rookie WINNER in the round 4 of the F4 Australia Championship!” wrote Anton.

He also competes in regional and local competitions, like the Formula 4 Southeast Asia Championship and the Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup.

Apart from his on-track racing, Anton is also known for being a sim racer and even represented the Philippines in the Olympic Esports Week last year, as organized by the International Olympic Committee.
