Spanish pool player David Alcaide had more luck on his side as he secured Team Europe’s fourth point in the 2024 Reyes Cup, defeating Pinoy bet Johann Chua in their singles encounter at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila on Friday, October 18.

Alcaide capitalized on early mistakes from Chua, who missed the seven ball in the first frame and scratched the 4th ball in the second, for a quick 2-0 lead.

The reigning Hanoi Open champion managed to take the third. But once again, he failed to close out the fourth frame after missing the cut shot on the nine ball.

Trailing 3-1, Chua was given a lucky break after Alcaide scratched the second ball, which he took advantage of to secure his second point in the match.

Chua looked poised to secure the victory after going ahead 4-3, but Alcaide pulled off a golden break in the eighth frame.

The Spanish pool superstar then capitalized on Chua’s scratch in the winner-take-all frame to down all balls and secure the victory.

This was Team Asia’s first defeat in a singles match in the tournament after winning four straight.

Team Asia is still ahead 9-4, with the next match set between Duong Quoc Hoang and Ko Pin-yi against Francisco Sanchez Ruiz and Mickey Krause.
