Filipina tennis star Alex Eala will continue to push for her goal of making a Grand Slam main draw.
The hunt for Alex Eala’s first Grand Slam draw continues.
Eala took to social media to share her thoughts following an early exit from the 2025 Australian Open qualifiers.
The 19-year-old Filipina tennis star fell to Croatia’s Jana Fett, 7-5, 6-2, in the first round, marking her third consecutive year bowing out in the qualifiers.
In her Instagram post, Eala got philosophical as she expressed her disappointment in her run, while also vowing to continue fighting for her goal.
“Sadly, my run in this year’s @australianopen is much shorter than I’d hoped. Disappointed to say the least, but that’s tennis—constantly falling down and picking yourself up, week by week, believing one day you’ll end up on top. So much love for you Melbourne. I’ll be back,” Eala wrote.
Eala’s defeat came shortly after achieving a career-high WTA ranking of 138.
Despite the loss, she displayed determination and a fighting spirit, nearly overcoming a 5-2 deficit in the first set before Fett ultimately prevailed.
The young star’s journey to Melbourne followed a strong performance in the WTA 125 Canberra International, where she reached the semifinals.
