Embattled Algerian boxer Imane Khelif now has a guaranteed Olympic medal after advancing to the semifinals of the women's 66kg category.
Algeria’s Imane Khelif became emotional after assuring herself a medal, defeating Anna Luca Hamori of Hungary in the quarterfinals of the women’s 66-kg boxing event.
Imane had faced scrutiny and criticism regarding her eligibility to compete in the women's division. But the IOC defended the Algerian and insisted on her qualifications.
