The Beast isn't too beastly off the court, after all.
Love him or hate him, you cannot deny Calvin Abueva this: He has doting dad and cool husband written all over him.
That side of The Beast is on full display on Instagram, where the 35-year-old Angeles City native regularly posts pictures and videos of his family. And Abueva’s latest series of posts appears to be very special for their household, as the short videos show the moving up ceremony of the Kapampangan cager’s son, Calvin James.
From the looks of it, The Beast’s younger namesake is doing quite alright in school, with the elder Abueva posting the young man’s final report card that shows all passing grades. The Magnolia Hotshot forward also posted his son’s Athletics Award—undeniable proof that Calvin Junior picked up his dad’s athletic gifts.
That is Abueva being the proud dad—far from the intense, physical, highly competitive player that he is on the court.
Then again, Abueva is also a cool hubby, one who likes to prank his lovely wife, Sam, every now and then. And it was mission accomplished for The Beast again, who had the instinct to capture on video his better half with tears seemingly welling up in her eyes during the ceremony.
Naturally, the Abueva patriarch posted the short video via Instagram Stories with the caption, “Umiiyak ka.”
Sam was tagged, of course.
After all the controversies Abueva had been involved in, it is certainly a whiff of fresh air to see the veteran in a different light—personable, warm, caring, and fun-loving.
