Charles Justin Lazarte, who plays for the San Miguel Beermen, has been arrested by Davao City police on Monday due to alleged possession of illegal drugs.
Lazarte, nicknamed CJ, was accosted by the authorities during a routine road checkpoint in Lasang, Davao City at around 6 a.m. Unable to produce a driver’s license while also violating seatbelt laws, police issued a ticket to the Santo Tomas, Davao del Norte native.
Authorities, however, also discovered one packet of a substance believed to be shabu in Lazarte’s possession. Reports say the sachet costs north of P3,000.

The pro hooper, who has also played in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League, is currently detained at the police station in Bunawan, Davao City. He is set to face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
