He also dropped wise words for any athlete in a team sport.
San Miguel Beermen shooting guard Jericho Cruz got the best bros a player could ask for after he was hailed Mr. Quality Minutes in the PBA Press Corps Awards on Monday.
This is the second time he was given the award. He was first recognized for his efforts as the sixth man during the 2015-16 season when he was part of the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.
"Every minute counts. Maximize every opportunity when in the court and contribute in any way that you can," Cruz posted on Instagram.
His veteran teammate Chris Ross, now a playing assistant coach for the Beermen, was on point with his comment for Cruz.
"BASIC!!!!!!!" he exclaimed.
Another teammate, Terrence Romeo, who played limited minutes in the Beermen's recent win over the Meralco Bolts, also became a cheerleader for Cruz.
"Congrats dong!🔥🔥" he wrote.
The Filipino-Guamanian came off the bench in all but two games for San Miguel last season, but he provided a steady presence for the second unit.
He averaged 13.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in the PBA Philippine Cup and maintained his double-digit scoring average with 11.1 points, plus 3.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists in the PBA Governors' Cup.
Cruz, who is still nursing an injury, could suit up in his first game this conference when the Beermen travel to Tiaong, Quezon this Saturday to take on the Converge FiberXers.
