Dominick Fajardo got a well-deserved adjustment in salary with the NLEX Road Warriors in the ongoing PBA Philippine Cup.
Dominick Fajardo continued his incredible journey from being a security officer at NLEX tollways to now a “well-compensated” PBA player.
This after NLEX decided to reward the hard-working cager a salary increase on the eve of the Road Warriors' eventual 87-74 win over Magnolia in the PBA Season 48 Philippine Cup on Saturday, April 6.
Fajardo was seen signing some documents with team manager Larry Fonacier just outside the team’s dugout at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Fonacier said it was a well-deserved adjustment since everyone has been pleased with the way Fajardo, who first made waves for NLEX in the PBA On Tour, has been performing for the streaking Road Warriors.
“Fit na fit siya sa system. Not looking for the ball, he’s doing all the things the team needs,” said Fonacier, whose team rolled to a fourth-straight win for a 5-1 win-loss record.
“I think it’s just fair that we give him an increase.”
Fajardo — who has gone a long way from being a security officer at NLEX, to a last-minute replacement in Cavitex’s 3x3 team, and now as part of the Road Warriors regular rotation — couldn’t hide his joy after the adjustment in salary.
He didn’t divulge further details about the increase, but his big smile after sealing the deal spoke volumes.
But this latest development in his life won’t stop Fajardo from putting in the work. Fajardo says he will only double down in training and in games to further prove himself worthy of the salary increase.
“Dapat mas doble effort ko ngayon at hard work sa practice at sa game. Well-compensated na ako ngayon,” he said.
