Terrafirma is definitely looking to build on its win against Ginebra as it eyes a playoff berth in the PBA Season 48 Philippine Cup.
There’s no question the 91-85 win over Ginebra in the PBA Season 48 Philippine Cup on Sunday, April 7 significantly raised Terrafirma's morale.
After all, it was only the Dyip’s second win against the perennial contenders in 23 meetings, according to PBA chief statistician Fidel Mangonon.
“It’s a big morale to our team,” said Javi Gomez de Liano, who starred in the win with 22 points at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
The Dyip also reached four wins to match the most number of dubs under Johnedel Cardel. A couple more and the Dyip could make a breakthrough playoff appearance.
But Cardel is not letting this win get to their heads.
“Four wins, hindi pa to yung makakapasok sa quarterfinals. We have four more games,” he said.
Gomez de Liano couldn’t agree more.
“I guess at the moment we can’t relax. We know we need to get at least two more to be safe,” said the eighth overall pick in the 2022 Draft.
The next four games are by no means easy. Terrafirma will face top team San Miguel on Wednesday, April 10, before taking on streaking Rain or Shine (April 13), NorthPort (April 24), and Magnolia (May 3).
But with their confidence at an all-time high, it won’t be a surprise to see the Dyip pull through.
“In the next games we’re gonna take it one game at a time. And continue to play for each other, play for our coaches in trying to get those wins,” said Gomez de Liano.
