Two-time Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Jamie Lim represented San Miguel as its muse in the PBA Season 49 opening ceremony on Sunday, Aug. 18.
Jamie Lim wore a red, short body-hugging dress that well-represented the colors of champion team San Miguel which chose her to be its muse as the PBA Season 49 was ushered in.
It was extra special for Lim as this was the squad that her late father, PBA legend Samboy Lim, played his entire 11-year pro career with.
The elder Lim, known as the Skywalker, collected nine championships with San Miguel, including a Grand Slam in 1989.
Due to his exemplary exploits, his jersey No. 9 was retired by the team.
He passed away in December last year at age 61.
"Super honored, of course, to be a muse. Idol ko si dad forever," said Jamie in an interview with One Sports a few moments prior to the opening ceremony.
"This is the team that he started and ended his career sa PBA. And now, I'm a muse, so nakaka-honor talaga," she added.
Jamie said that as she walks with San Miguel holding the team's banner, she will have her father in mind.
"I'll be thinking of him tonight," she said.
Jamie is also no stranger to sports as she plays karate and has earned two Southeast Asian Games gold medals for that.
As such, with the younger Lim used to wearing her athletic gear, being picked as a muse where she has to doll up came as a surprise.
"Super nakakatuwa. I didn't think na magiging muse ako. Akala ko sporty-sporty lang," Jamie said.
But she is grateful to have done it for San Miguel.
"But then, now, I'm' very excited about tonight, and I'm happy na it's San Miguel," she said.
