Meralco lifer Cliff Hodge has been known as a defensive lynchpin since being drafted by Meralco in 2012.

Though it is a chore fans do not usually recognize and appreciate, this quality of Hodge's marked by his intensity on that end of the floor has not waned one bit 12 years on in the PBA.

He was particularly instrumental in the Bolts’ Philippine Cup title conquest last season 48 against the mighty San Miguel, where he gave it his all in fronting eight-time Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo.

With this, Hodge will be presented the Defensive Player of the Year plum in the PBA Press Corps Awards Night on Tuesday, Sept. 24.

Meanwhile, the men and women covering the league will also award the Bogs Adornado Comeback Player of the Year to two other veterans in LA Tenorio and Ian Sangalang.

Tenorio made a comeback from hoop sabbatical after beating stage three colon cancer in a battle that spanned six months.

Sangalang, for his part, returned to his old form after being forced to miss the bulk of season 47 with Magnolia after being diagnosed with hyperthyroidism.

Hodge, Tenorio and Sangalang will be honored in the event presented by Cignal TV at 7:30 p.m. at the Novotel Manila Araneta City.
