Converge put up a balanced attack to go back-to-back against San Miguel in Game 4 of their best-of-five quarterfinal showdown in the PBA Governors' Cup.
Converge built on a strong third period to down San Miguel, 114-100, and force a rubber match in the PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup quarterfinals at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium on Friday, Oct. 4.
The decider is set on Sunday, Oct. 6, at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
The FiberXers outgunned the Beermen, 37-24, in the third and took an 88-79 edge heading into the final quarter.
They did not stop there.
King Caralipio scored five straight points to give the team a 99-85 advantage with 5:25 remaining before Bryan Santos and Justin Arana put the finishing touches to the pulsating win.
Schonny Winston led Converge with 26 points, including a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line. He also tallied six rebounds and five assists.
Justin Arana finished with 25 points, eight rebounds, four assists, a steal and a block, while import Jalen Jones produced 22 points, seven rebounds, four steals and two assists.
“We forced a a sudden death on Sunday. Wala na 'yung mga stats, mga previews. Everything is out of the window,” said FiberXers coach Franco Atienza.
The victory spoiled a 35-point outing by San Miguel reinforcement EJ Anosike, who also had 11 rebounds and two assists.

June Mar Fajardo put up 17 points, 20 rebounds, four assists and two blocks in a losing cause.
Marcio Lassiter and CJ Perez scored 15 and 11, respectively.
