June Mar Fajardo showed why he is an eight-time MVP as he came through when it mattered for San Miguel against Converge in Game 5 of the PBA quarterfinals.
A June Mar Fajardo explosion in the late stages was just what San Miguel needed to score a hard-earned 109-105 win over Converge in the deciding Game 5 of their PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup quarterfinals at the Ynares Center Antipolo on Sunday, Oct. 6.
The Beermen leaned on June Mar Fajardo, who threw his weight around with 40 points and 24 rebounds to secure the last ticket to the semis.
San Miguel thus set up a gigantic clash against sister team Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel.
“We just gave him more touches because he’s really a great post player. We just took advantage of that situation. We know that when he gets doubled, he’s a good passer,” said Beermen coach Jorge Gallent of the eight-time Most Valuable Player.
