The San Miguel Beermen mounted a dramatic fourth-quarter comeback to edge the Phoenix Fuel Masters, 107-104, in their PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup opener on Tuesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Player of the Game Marcio Lassiter delivered the game-winning jumper with 2.9 seconds left, capping a rally from a 16-point deficit. He finished with 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting, along with three rebounds and two assists.
San Miguel also welcomed new acquisitions Juami Tiongson and Andreas Cahilig, who made immediate impacts. Cahilig scored 12 points, hitting all four of his three-point attempts, while Tiongson added eight points and five assists.
Quincy Miller debuted as SMB’s PBA import, contributing 14 points, while CJay Perez led the charge with a team-high 18 points.
Phoenix’s Donovan Smith had 37 points, but his effort, along with strong showings from Tyler Tio (23 points) and Jason Perkins (21 points), fell short.
