NorthPort solidified its status as a possible contender in the PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup after besting Eastern, 120-113, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Friday, Dec. 20.

The Batang Pier quickly recovered after stumbling to their first loss against Phoenix the last time out for a solo hold of the lead which it earlier shared with its foe.

NorthPort improved to 6-1 while snapping the Hong Kong-based team's three-game winning streak for a 5-2 slate.

Arvin Tolentino continued to showcase his leadership for the Batang Pier, earning Player of the Game honors with his 35 points on a 10-for-16 clip he topped with six rebounds, three assists and one block.

NorthPort will now head to its holiday break before returning in a duel against Ginebra on Jan. 8 at the same venue.
