Glenn Khobuntin downplayed the heated exchange between him and TNT teammate Poy Erram in their 98-103 loss to Rain or Shine in Game 3 of the PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup semifinals Sunday, March 2.

The incident happened with still 18 seconds left in the first half, when Erram was trying to plead his case with the referees after being called for a foul.

Khobuntin then stepped in and tried to pacify the TNT big man.

Erram warded off his hand, then appeared to have told his teammate to stop touching him.

“Ah, wala naman. Kasi high emotions, eh. Kasi una, ang pangit ng laro namin. Friendly fire lang naman 'yun. Sobrang tagal ko nang kilala si Poy, wala 'yun,” Khobuntin said after the game at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

“Wala naman. Sabi ko kasi, 'Tama na.' Kasi baka madalawang technical pa, eh. Sobrang importante sa game noong tao, eh. 'Yun lang naman.”

The former UAAP champion with National University admitted he was surprised with Erram's sudden outburst.

“Siyempre, tao lang din naman tayo. Buti na-control din niya 'yung emotions kasi nasa middle ka ng game, eh, 'di ba? Sayang naman. At saka dikit pa,” Khobuntin said.

It didn’t take long for Khobuntin to understand his teammate

“Medyo (nagulat). Saka siyempre, nagulat lang din ako. At least, 'yun lang naman,” he said.

“Kasi una, hindi siya tinatawagan ng foul. Parang ayun 'yung feeling niya. Masiyadong maraming hawak sa kanya, hindi napapansin ng ref. Siyempre, halu-halo na 'yung emosiyon.”

The 33-year-old cager said that they immediately patched things up.

“Oo naman. Siyempre parehas kaming Bisaya noon, eh. Language naman namin 'yung pinagsasabi namin,” said Khobuntin, who hails from Cagayan de Oro.

Meanwhile, Erram politely begged off when a couple of reporters tried to approach him to air his side.

TNT and Rain or Shine meet again in Game 4 on Wednesday, March 5, at the same venue.
