Ginebra duo Japeth Aguilar, Scottie Thompson to lead PBA All-Star teams

Now that's the power of the barangay.

Japeth Aguilar and Scottie Thompson of the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Gin Kings will serve as team captains in the PBA All-Star Game happening in Passi City, Iloilo on March 12.

Aguilar, who is sitting out games because of a knee injury, overtook six-time MVP June Mar Fajardo for the top spot with 1.23 million votes. Thompson, the reigning MVP, maintained his hold of the second spot with 1.21 million votes.

They are joined by six teammates Jamie Malonzo, Christian Standhardinger, LA Tenorio, Stanley Pringle, Jeremiah Gray, and Nards Pinto.

Three San Miguel Beermen got the nod from the voting, which was done through website and in-venue polling: Cjay Perez, Terrence Romeo, and Marcio Lassiter.

Calvin Abueva, Mark Barroca, and Paul Lee will represent Magnolia, while Jayson Castro, RR Pogoy, and Mikey Williams will don the colors of TNT for the star-studded event. 

James Yap and Gian Mamuyac were chosen from Rain or Shine, while Robert Bolick and Arvin Tolentino of NorthPort are also taking part in the game. Meralco's Chris Newsome and NLEX's Kevin Alas round up the top 24.

In case of injuries, Gabe Norwood, Jeff Chan, Calvin Oftana, and Jio Jalalon are listed as reserves.

Tim Cone of Barangay Ginebra and Yeng Guiao of Rain or Shine will be mentoring the squads after getting 1.29 million and 1.23 million votes, respectively.
