The love between these two friends is palpable.
Rachel Anne Daquis and Jovelyn Gonzaga are volleyball royalty. They also happen to be best friends.
So, imagine how mighty proud Daquis is of Gonzaga after the latter was recognized by the San Miguel Corporation-Philippine Sportswriters Association (SMC-PSA) on Monday night for meritorious performance in beach volleyball. Gonzaga and her beach volleyball partner, Sisi Rondina, were feted by the SMC-PSA with a major award for beach volleyball after the pair bagged the gold medal at the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Futures held in Subic last December.
Of course, Daquis let the world know what she thinks of her BFF’s most recent accomplishment, posting in her Instagram Stories a picture of Gonzaga holding her gorgeous trophy with a short but sweet caption that probably sums up best how Daquis is feeling.
Take a look:
Daquis and Gonzaga’s friendship dates as far back as 2011 and has even inspired a name: Gonzaquis. This friendship has only blossomed from that point forward—tested but strengthened by time, nurtured by a shared love for volleyball, and reinforced by priceless moments too many to count.
The two will have some time to maybe celebrate, as Daquis and her Cignal HD Spikers’ next game is on Saturday at the FilOil EcoOil Center. Gonzaga, on the other hand, has skipped PVL action altogether to focus on the upcoming Southeast Asian Games.
