Jia De Guzman says Creamline has more to show in finals decider vs Petro Gazz
PVL

The Petro Gazz Angels came out like a house on fire at the Mall of Asia Arena on Tuesday night as they tried to close out the 2023 PVL All-Filipino Conference finals against the Creamline Cool Smashers. The reigning champions, however, weathered the storm and eventually outlasted the worthy challengers in five sets. It was one of the best games of the tournament to say the least.

As the battle went on, Creamline got better and better. The attacks from the ladies in pink and white grew increasingly efficient with every excellent set launched by Jia De Guzman. The star setter credits the team’s improvement in execution from the championship opener.

“Everything that we showed today, ‘yung mga sobrang nag-lack kami ‘nung Game 1, ‘yung communication, ‘yung support, and ‘yung execution was the biggest factor also for me today,” Morada told reporters at the postgame presser.

Moving forward, the Ateneo Blue Eagles product is banking on the Cool Smashers’ ability to execute. To see their hard work behind the scenes translate in a Game 3 decider will be a difference-maker. And she believes that they can do a better job at making that happen.

“Ang dami naming ginagawa sa training na hindi namin napu-pull off sa laro, and it showed today. Pero alam namin na may ikakaganda pa ‘yung execution and ‘yung communication namin for Game 3,” the Creamline stalwart said.

Coach Sherwin Meneses’ wards have given us a masterpiece in Game 2. But if they can outperform themselves in the winner-take-all, then it’s hard to imagine Creamline going home without the trophy. The Angels, however, are a special group as well. Anything can happen on do-or-die Thursday.
