The Philippine beach volleyball queens are back indoors.
Philippine beach volleyball queen Sisi Rondina will finally be making her PVL debut.
The Choco Mucho Flying Titans announced their high-flying recruit on Saturday in preparation for the Invitational Conference.
Choco Mucho's announcement comes after Rondina's long-time beach volleyball partner, Bernadeth Pons, was picked up by the Flying Titans' sister team, the Creamline Cool Smashers.
Rondina, who hails from Cebu, will be a welcome addition to coach Dante Alinsunurin's squad.
She and fellow Flying Titan Caitlyn Viray swept the UAAP Season 80 beach volleyball tournament. Rondina also participated in the indoor tournament in Season 81, picking up the Most Valuable Player, Second Best Outside Spiker, and Best Scorer titles.
She last played professional indoor volleyball in 2017 with the Petron Blaze Spikers in the now-defunct Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix.
From there, the Philippine Queen of Sands focused on the beach volleyball scene, winning two bronze medals in the Southeast Asian Games and a gold in the 2022 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Subic Bay Future event with Jovelyn Gonzaga—who is now with the Cignal HD Spikers.
The Flying Titans will be looking for their first podium appearance in the PVL. Their best results so far are two fourth place finishes in the 2021 and 2022 editions of the Open Conference.
With Rondina adding firepower and veteran smarts to Choco Mucho, that lofty goal suddenly looks very much attainable.
