The core of the Akari Chargers flew to Indonesia on Thursday night in time for the 2023 AVC Challenge Cup.
Representing the Philippines in the competition are Akari’s core which includes Faith Nisperos, Michelle Cobb, Erika Raagas, Bang Pineda, Eli Soyud, and Ezra Madrigal.
Calling the shots for the Philippine team is Akari coach Jorge Edson Souza de Brito.
Also in the team are Petro Gazz Angels veteran Aiza Maizo-Pontillas and Djanel Cheng, PLDT High Speed Hitters’ Jules Samonte, and new team Foton Tornadoes Shaya Adorador.
The AVC Challenge Cup, which starts on June 18, will also serve as “warm up” for these PVL players before the Invitational Conference unfurls on June 27.
The Filipinas are bunched with Macau and the host team in Group B and will tackle the former on June 19.
