Title contention may once again be a regular thing for the Cargo Movers if they accomplish this soon enough.
Stay still and you might be left behind.
Player movement in the volleyball scene in the Philippines has become rapid, especially in this break between the PVL’s All-Filipino Conference and Invitational Conference, which saw the addition of three new teams to the league.
With collegiate leagues like UAAP and NCAA flourishing, talent is teeming—and it’s up to PVL teams to make sure they keep up.
Among those teams who did their homework was the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers, who added three outstanding UAAP talents in Jolina dela Cruz, Mars Alba, and Jov Fernandez. In case you’ve been living under a rock, those three are not just aces. They’re among the UAAP's elite. The De La Salle Lady Spikers tandem of dela Cruz and Alba took home 1st Best Outside Spiker and Best Setter, respectively, in Season 85. Fernandez, who left the FEU Tamaraws to go pro, was named the league’s Best Opposite Spiker.
With a team that already has the talents of Myla Pablo, Kim Kianna Dy, Aby Maraño, and Kim Fajardo on board, it’s no secret that the Cargo Movers just became deeper—which is a good problem for coach Regine Diego to solve.
"I'm really excited to coach these girls again," Diego said in an article on the PVL website.
Championships, however, aren’t won on paper. And Coach Regine will need to find a solution to her good problem.
"Hopefully, they will be able to connect and gel with the other girls as soon as possible," Diego stated.
The Cargo Movers, for their part, have been doing what it takes to build that chemistry.
Their first test will come on the opener of the PVL Invitational on Tuesday, when they face the coach Jerry Yee-led Farm Fresh Foxies.
