Gandler has a bright future ahead in Cignal.
The Cignal HD Spikers are off to a flying start in the PVL Invitational Conference after taking down the Petro Gazz Angels in four sets, 18-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-22, on Tuesday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.
Aside from taking a win against the All-Filipino Conference runner-up and the masterful performance of their setter Gel Cayuna, the HD Spikers should also be happy about the pro debut of Vanie Gandler.
The former Ateneo Blue Eagles standout had a solid game as she finished with 8 points.
“I know that the team has been putting so much work, so I'm just happy that one, I got to play finally in the PVL, and two, that we got the win,” Gandler told One Sports after the match.
Gandler also passed the eye test for many PVL fans who eagerly watched her debut.
"Vanie Gandler is doing so well!" Netizen @volleytiger wrote. Twitter user @kytecon also raved about how Gandler was "performing beautifully" in her first pro game.
Some fans, meanwhile, were in agreement about Gandler fitting in well within the HD Spikers’ system.
"She fits so well with the Cignal system, said fan @alarconick.
With Gandler and other key additions like the returning Jovelyn Gonzaga, fans believe that this Cignal team can be a very dangerous squad to go up against this Invitational Conference.
"That's why I don't understand 'yung pag-underestimate sa Cignal," @volleybellaa wrote on her Twitter page.
The HD Spikers will look to continue their momentum against the tough F2 Logistics Cargo Movers on Saturday, 6:30 p.m.
