The grind never stops for an athlete. Jem Ferrer of the Choco Mucho Flying Titans knows it all too well.

And, on a cold, rainy Thursday, the three-time UAAP Best Setter made sure to keep working—even on an empty gym.

She wasn’t about to train alone, though. Ferrer also made sure she’d be working out with at least two of her peers. She found herself not one but two workout buddies. One was familiar a face: Des Cheng, Ferrer’s teammate at Choco Mucho.

This one is not surprising. Choco Mucho’s once promising PVL Invitational Conference fizzled out earlier than expected, so it makes sense that the Flying Titans will be eager to get back in the lab—individually and as a team—to prepare for next conference.

Ferrer’s other workout buddy, though, might be a bit of a surprise—or maybe she isn’t? She’s none other than Djanel Cheng of the Petro Gazz Angels. Take a look:

On the one hand, Ferrer recruiting the older Cheng to a workout session might be mildly surprising mostly because the Petro Gazz setter is, well, an adversary. On the other hand, blood as the saying goes is thicker than water, and Des and Djanel are known to be close siblings. So, they probably work out together anyway.

Regardless, Ferrer training with the Chengs—at least for one day—proves that the PVL at the end of the day is just one big family. It also proves that the grind never stops for these ladies.
