Tolenada addressed the bashers courageously.
It might not have been the way she planned it, but setter Iris Tolenada of the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers is bound for South Korea after all.
Tolenada, of course, is very thankful of the opportunity that came her way, according to a report in the PVL website.
"I was part of the KOVO draft, and I didn't get chosen, and that was okay with me. You go into these things hoping for the best and being okay if you aren't chosen; it's just not your time,” Tolenada said. "But I got a text saying that a team from Korea wants me, so I'm just very fortunate enough to be selected, and I'm just excited and grateful."
Tolenada’s team, F2 Logistics, is reveling in the opportunity she has gotten.
"The team, the management, the team owners are very proud of what Iris received. This message will be seen by young players, and it will boost their morale, seeing Ate Iris succeeding,” said F2 Logistics coach Regine Diego. “So, you know, everybody wants to be next, right?"
Despite this positive development, however, it appears some people just want to bring Tolenada down—prompting the 5-foot-9 setter to bare her soul a little via a two-tweet thread.
“Thank everyone for your support 🙏🏽 but wanna also remind everyone to not bash someone in order to uplift yourself or others in life,” Tolenada wrote on Twitter. “I get bashed daily/people try to spit on my name & people forget I’m human. My fam & I been thru a lot especially recently, just wanna keep things positive.”
Tolenada wasn’t done.
“They dunno how it feels & my supporters know I only wanna keep things light,” Tolenada continued, before giving some great advice. “If you have the choice in life to be kind or be cruel, be kind. Make the choice to reflect love & light in a world where culture says it’s cool to be mean & fake.”
These are wise words from the unassuming Tolenada, and they underscore the even-keeled disposition that is sure to come in handy when she takes her talents to South Korea.
