When Joy Dacoron decided to join the Bb. Pilipinas beauty pageant, many were elated for the former Adamson Lady Falcons. Seeing her spread her wings was a delight for her friends and supporters. After all, she has what it takes to wear the sash and the crown. Standing at 5-foot-10, Dacoron has that super model vibe going on.
But like anywhere in life, there are those who thrive on playing the role of a skeptic. For some reason, they get a kick out of making people second guess themselves. On Saturday, Dacoron took anonymous questions from her Instagram followers. One netizen then questioned her decision of becoming an aspiring beauty queen with somewhat of a trolling undertone.
“Anong nakain mo? Bakit ka sumali ng Bb. Pilipinas? Mas mabuti pa nag-volleyball ka na lang.” The translation of the Bisaya comment read.
Dacoron responded to her anonymous critic with class. She previously admitted to having "silent battles" which included her questioning her own pro volleyball career.
It seems like joining the prestigious beauty pageant is a way of finding herself.
"Galaw galaw lang din at ano ba talaga ang para sa akin," Dacoron wrote in response.
She then seemed to explain how she is looking at volleyball in this moment of her life.
“I know I am good sa volleyball and madami akong ma-offer na skills ko with the right people, lalo na mentors. But, gano’n ang life. ‘Pag season mo, season mo," she said.
All signs point to Dacoron standing behind the decisions she has made before, and certain of herself as she faces the future.
"Then sabi ko sa sarili ko, may iba naman ako na back-up plan sa buhay ko. So, why settle for less?”
At the moment, she’s choosing to keep her feet on the ground. Her focus seems to be directed on what’s coming up next.
“Right now, pakumbaba muna.”
In the same Instagram story, the 27-year-old Cebu native also took time to acknowledge the support she’s been getting from Petro Gazz Angels ace Grethcel Soltones through all these development in her life.
“Love ko ‘to (Soltones). Sa lahat, siya ‘yung pinagtatanggol ako,” she wrote over a picture of her and Soltones hugging it out on the volleyball court.
Before making it to the Top 40 in this year’s Bb. Pilpinas competition, Dacoron suited up for the Chery Tiggo Crossovers and the Cignal HD Spikers in the PVL.
