It’s been somewhat of a roller coaster PVL season for Majoy Baron. In the First All-Filipino Conference, the 5-foot-11 middle spiker took a bench role as Aby Maraño and Ivy Lacsina were tapped to be the regular starters for the F2 Logisitics Cargo Movers.
In the following PVL Invitational Conference, a few lineup tweaks from coach Regine Diego opened up an opportunity for Baron to shine once again.
In her supposed return to form, Baron virtually averaged one block per set en route to being named 1st Best Middle Blocker of the conference. Surprisingly, she did it while not being 100%. In a way, she’s using it as a personal launchpad for the Cargo Movers’ campaign in the season-ending tourney of the PVL.
“Coming from an injury last conference, pinaghandaan ko ‘tong (Second All-Filipino) conference na ‘to. Mas nagpakondisyon ako and siyempre mas magiging aggressive,” the former DLSU Lady Spiker told One Sports.
Should Baron continue her reemergence, F2 Logistics might just get back in the semifinals and finish on the podium for the second time this season. Of course, winning it all isn’t out of the question as well. In the first conference, the Cargo Movers copped the bronze medal. The following tournament saw them finishing in fourth place.
In the final conference, with every team aiming for a memorable season-ender, anything can happen.
Baron and the rest of F2 Logistics are certainly gunning for the best result possible.
"Gusto ko lang lagi gawin ‘yung job ko as a middle blocker, middle spiker. Kung ano ‘yung makakatulong sa team, ‘yun ‘yung gagawin ko," said Baron.
The PVL Second All-Filipino Conference is set to begin this Sunday. The Cargo Movers will first see action on Tuesday against the Akari Chargers.
