The race up top is tight in the PVL.
After a slow start in the PVL Second All-Filipino Conference, the Cignal HD Spikers finally found their groove with a string of wins to crack the upper half of the standings.
The girls in red-and-white uniform currently have four wins and two losses after winning three straight games.
Veteran Jovelyn Gonzaga said the momentum gained from those consecutive wins will be a huge factor once they face the Petro Gazz Angels in a huge test on Saturday.
"Ang laking bagay na sunud-sunod ang panalo namin kasi next na kalaban namin, Petro Gazz. Malaki siyang morale booster for us. Galing kami sa talo, ‘di ba? Nabalik na namin self-confidence namin," Gonzaga told reporters after the Cignal's victory over the Gerflor Defenders.
This will be an acid test for Cignal since their recent victories are against "bottom half" squads including the Defenders, Farm Fresh Foxies, and the Akari Chargers.
Beating the Angels will be a huge boost considering that Gonzaga is not yet satisfied with the state of Cignal.
"Pero katulad nang sinabi ko, no complacency, malayo pa. Ang ginagalaw namin last conference, nakikita namin na ang layo pa ng kailangan namin pagtrabahuan and hindi kami titigil doon na makuha ang panalo against Petro Gazz."
