'Heart & soul': Fans can't get over Jolina dela Cruz's 30-point special despite menstrual cramps

Ten days ago, rookie outside hitter Jolina dela Cruz tallied a career-high of 27 points to help the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers survive Trisha Tubu's 30-point explosion for the Farm Fresh Foxies.

On Thursday, dela Cruz recorded a new career-high of 30 points. But it was for naught as fellow newcomer Vanie Gandler, along with reigning PVL Invitational Conference MVP Ces Molina, as well as Jovelyn Gonzaga, Roselyn Doria, and Riri Meneses, scored in double digits to win the match for the Cignal HD Spikers, 25-23, 22-25, 26-24, 26-24 in the PVL Second All-Filipino Conference.

Dela Cruz's 30 points came from 28 attacks, a block, and an ace, while making seven excellent receptions.

Volleyball fans couldn't help but laud the 24-year-old dela Cruz despite the loss.

And apparently, dela Cruz did it despite having menstrual cramps, based on a friend's Instagram Story that the volleybelle shared.

"Parang 'di masakit ang puson. Eyy!! Still, congrats pa din," said the post.

Dela Cruz is only in her second conference as a professional, and fans are all too happy to see her grow with other former players of the De La Salle Lady Spikers.

Some of them weren't even mad with the loss, given how dela Cruz performed along with breakout performances from Jovelyn Fernandez and Ethan Arce.

After the match, dela Cruz explained why she had such fire for the Cargo Movers, recounting what coach Regine Diego told them before the match.

"Isipin namin na last game na namin 'to, and all out na talaga," she told reporters. "Sabihin man natin o hindi, 'yung standing namin and situation namin, deliks na. 'Di namin alam if makakapasok pa kami sa top four. 'Yun lang iniisip ko kanina."

The 4-4 F2 Logistics, tied for sixth place, will have an even tougher fight on Tuesday against the 6-1 Choco Mucho Flying Titans at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
