Julia Coronel will be one of the top names in attendance at the inaugural PVL Draft set July 8 at Novotel in Cubao.

The De La Salle University setter has shown steady growth in her position throughout her time in the UAAP and, more recently, with Alas Pilipinas.

But more than her setting skills, Coronel is also capable of playing as an opposite spiker, her alternate position, if need be.

“Nilagay ko din ‘yung pagiging opposite [spiker] ko. So, at least, whichever position ang kailanganin ako, 'yun ang ipu-fulfill ko,” Coronel told reporters during Day 2 of the league's Draft Combine on Wednesday, June 26.

The PVL granted Coronel and her teammate Thea Gagate flexibility in terms of their schedule of participation on Day 2 amid their ongoing preparations with Alas Pilipinas for the 2024 FIVB Challenger Cup slated July 4 to 7.

A day prior, the 5-foot-10 setter showed off her skills as she topped the charts in the standard vertical jump at 27.78 inches. She was also second in vertical jump with approach (316.0 cm) and standing broad jump (248.9 cm).

“Sa team na kukuha sa'kin, I’ve been saying din na I am a very versatile player. So whatever is needed of me, I am willing to fulfill that,” said Coronel.

While Gagate is expected to be the first overall pick, Coronel is hoping that she will also be among the top draftees.

“I would say it really depends kung ano 'yung kailanganin noong mga unang magpi-pick na team. So hoping siyempre I am one of the top picks or sa may bandang kalagitnaan, kung kakayanin,” said Coronel.
