A new PVL record or a quarterfinals win in the 2024 Reinforced Conference? The answer is simple for Capital1 Solar Spikers import Marina Tushova.

The Russian import would immediately trade her new PVL scoring record of 50 points for a victory that would have sent the Solar Spikers to the semifinals.

“I gave everything for this game. We need just a little bit more, and I don’t care about my record today, I wanted more [for] our team to win,” Tushova said during the post-game press conference.

With their season over due to the heartbreaking loss, Tushova hopes to rejoin the Solar Spikers for the next Reinforced Conference and vows to be even better than her already history-making campaign this year.

“I hope we’ll have another opportunity. I hope I can come back here to play again and I hope that I will be better next year and I hope that Capital1 will improve too. I hope that I can bring something more this amazing team,” said Tushova.

After her stint with Capital1, Tushova will next play in Azerbaijan, where she will be with her new teammates until April.

As she heads to a new country, the 25-year-old outside hitter will bring some of what she learned from the Solar Spikers, from believing in herself to smiling more in matches.

“[I] learned a lot about belief in yourself. Here, I start to believe in myself thanks to my and thanks to fans. They text me a lot, they support me a lot, and I think my team, my coach here, and everyone like our manager believe in me more than myself,” said Tushova.

“My team, coaches say to me like, 'Marina, relax, enjoy, smile.' Yeah, but sometimes I'm too mad like, how is it possible to smile when you work hard? But yes, you [Filipinos] teach me this. You can enjoy and you can do hard work,” she added.
