The Choco Mucho Flying Titans tallied 22 blocks against the Galeries Tower Highrisers in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
The Choco Mucho Flying Titans had a block party in their five-set win against the Galeries Tower Highrisers in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference last Thursday, November 14 at the FilOil EcoOil Arena in San Juan.
In total, the Flying Titans had 22 blocks led by Kat Tolentino and rookie Lorraine Pecaña, who had seven rejections apiece in the hard-fought victory.
After the match, coach Dante Alinsunurin had nothing but praise for his team for following their system when it came to blocking.
“Sobrang happy pa rin ako kasi alam ko na kung ano ‘yung nagiging gusto namin pagdating sa blocking talaga, nakukuha namin,” said Alinsunurin.
“Sabi ko nga sa players ko, ang sasandalan talaga namin ay 'yung blocking namin. Kung ano pa ‘yung kailangan naming i-improve, pasensiya lang. Sobrang thankful ako na nagtiwala sa'kin 'yung players sa sistema ko sa blocks,” he added.

But where exactly does Choco Mucho’s team-high 22 blocks figure in recent Philippine women's volleyball history?
Team Record
Looking back on the PVL stats since it became a professional league in 2021, the Flying Titans now have the highest blocks recorded by a team.
Before them, it was the Petro Gazz Angels and the now-defunct F2 Logistics Cargo Movers that held the record with 18 blocks.
The Angels recorded 18 blocks during their four-set victory over the PLDT High Speed Hitters in the 2022 Reinforced Conference.
The Cargo Movers, meanwhile, tied the record during the 2023 All-Filipino Conference Battle for Third, also against the High Speed Hitters.
Individual Record
In terms of individual records, Riri Meneses still holds the PVL record during her 10-block outing for the Petro Gazz Angels in the 2021 PVL Open Conference.

Maddie Madayag, meanwhile, holds the record in the UAAP after tallying 11 of the Ateneo Blue Eagles’ 24 blocks against the UST Golden Tigresses in UAAP Season 81. Madzilla went on to become a longtime member of Choco Mucho before flying to Japan for the Kurobe Aqua Fairies.
Other notable figures
In UAAP Season 85, the FEU Lady Tamaraws put up a solid 23 blocks against the UE Lady Warriors.
The Cignal HD Spikers though eclipsed all of those numbers back in the Philippine Superliga.
The HD Spikers registered 27 blocks during their five-set conquest of the PLDT Home Fibr Power Hitters in 2019.
