PVL: Cignal snatches 3-0 start after fending off Choco Mucho in four sets

Cignal remains undefeated to start the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference after closing out Choco Mucho in four sets, 25-18, 25-18, 20-25, 25-22, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Thursday, November 28.

The HD Spikers move to the top of the standings at 3-0, tied with the PLDT High Speed Hitters.

Despite faltering in the third set, Cignal was back on the attack in the fourth, going on a 9-2 run for a 16-12 lead capped off by a kill block by Judith Abil on Sisi Rondina.

Choco Mucho managed to tie the game at 18-all, but Jovelyn Fernandez and Vanie Gandler pushed Cignal ahead at match point before Dindin Santiago’s down-the-line attack sailed wide.

Gel Cayuna had a brilliant outing for the HD Spikers with 11 points and 16 excellent sets.

Cignal will head to Cebu for their next match which will be against the Nxled Chamelons on December 7.

Choco Mucho, on the other hand, will look to bounce back against their sister team, the Creamline Cool Smashers on Tuesday, December 3 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.
