Sisi Rondina knew she was going to be a target on attacks and receives—and in turn, she put up a triple-double in the Choco Mucho Flying Titans' five-set victory against the Farm Fresh Foxies in the PVL.
When the going gets tough, the Choco Mucho Flying Titans turn to none other than Sisi Rondina.
In their five-set escape of the Farm Fresh Foxies, 25-20, 25-21, 21-25, 25-27, 15-12, Rondina finished with a triple-double of 26 points, 13 excellent digs, and 13 excellent receptions.
“Masaya ako na nakuha namin ‘yung panalo. Siyempre, marami talagang kailangan trabahuin. Kailangan pa namin mag-focus sa mga weaknesses namin, lalo na ako,” Rondina said during the post-game press conference.
“Ako nung fifth set kinakabahan na ako kasi naninigas na din ‘yung hita ko. Pero with the help ng teammates ko and ‘yung willingness talaga manalo nandun,” she added.
The triple-double performance is the first in a while for Rondina. But heading into this game, the former MVP took it upon herself to make sure she won’t be a liability on the defensive end.
“Personally, sinabi ko na ‘yun kay Thang [Ponce] na, ‘Thang, hindi ako aasa sa 'yo in terms of depensa and receive.’ Kasi mas nadadagdagan ‘yung trabaho ng teammate ko, which is ‘yun ‘yung ginagawa namin dati,” said Rondina.
“Coming into this game talagang mindset ko kailangan kong pumasa kasi ako at ako ‘yung ita-target nila. Alam ko naman ‘yun ‘yung weakness ko pero inunahan ko na ‘yung takot ko and masaya ako kasi nalabanan ko and kaya pala,” she bared.
Along with Rondina, Kat Tolentino also had a stellar outing with 18 points on 10 attacks, six blocks, and two service aces. Chery Nunag and Isa Molde added 10 markers each.
Mars Alba was hailed the Player of the Game for Choco Mucho with 25 excellent sets.
The Flying Titans will be back when the PVL resumes on January 18 against the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles.
Trisha Tubu had a 31-point outing which went in vain, while Caitlin Viray and Alyssa Bertolano had 15 and 10 points, respectively.
Bertolano also had 12 excellent digs and 19 excellent receptions in the loss.
The Foxies also return on January 18 when they face the winless Nxled Chameleons at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
