There’s more to Mika Reyes that just being one of the best players in the PVL with the PLDT High Speed Hitters – she’s also a foodie and a true travel enthusiast.
When she’s not dominating the court, Mika is out exploring both local and international destinations, always in search of her next adventure.
Alongside her long-time best friend and teammate Jessey de Leon, as well as Jessey’s travel buddy and partner-in-crime Trina Guytingco, Mika is always on the move, discovering new places and making unforgettable memories.
In this exciting edition of Off the Record, the PLDT middle blocker shares her travel goals, favorite destinations, and what she loves most about taking on these voyages around the world.

One Sports: What’s your favorite travel destination?
Mika: Siguro sa South Korea. Hindi kasi kami masyadong nagpunta sa mga tourist-y places pero sobrang gusto kong balikan ‘yong food. Sobrang sarap.
Hindi ako mahilig sa spicy food, hindi ko kaya, pero tiniis ko talaga do’n. Kasi iba ‘yong kapag maanghang, iba pala ‘yong lasa. So babalik ako doon. Babalik ako sa South Korea.
One Sports: Is that your dream destination, or is there another place you’re still dying to go to?
Mika: Actually may iba pa pero first time ko kasi sa South Korea. I’m very happy na nakasama ko ‘yong friends ko.

One Sports: Do you think traveling really tests friendships?
Mika: Doon talaga mate-test lalo na kapag may mga call time na sinusunod. Kapag ang usapan, dapat ganito, ganyan. Pero siguro ‘yong patience niyo sa isa’t isa doon mo siya makikilala.
Actually to be honest kami ni Jessey [De Leon] since high school pa kami magkakilala, pero ang dami ko pa ring natututunan sa kaniya. Ngayon na dumadami na kami sa mga travels namin, mas masaya kasi mas marami na kaming nage-enjoy ngayon. Sana magkaroon din kami ng travel soon.

One Sports: So, who’s the trip planner in your group?
Mika: Sa itinerary, si Trina. Siya talaga ‘yong inaasahan namin. Sobrang galing niya mag-plan. Though wala namang pressure minsan kapag aalis kami. Marami lang options.
One Sports: And who’s the one who just goes with the flow?
Mika: Me. That’s me. Masaya ako kasama.
One Sports: Do you ever imagine yourself being added to a group chat for a trip, like ‘South Korea 2025’ or something?
Mika: Medyo, or ako ‘yong gagawa ng group chat sila ‘yong ia-add ko.
One Sports: Got any trips booked for the future?
Mika: Wala pa… naman. May nakaplano na pero wala pang naka-book. Baka mamaya.
