Now with the Capital1 Solar Spikers, Trisha Genesis looks to find her groove in the PVL under coach Roger Gorayeb.
After sitting out the first half of the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference, Trisha Genesis found her new home with the Capital1 Solar Spikers.
Genesis made her debut for the Solar Spikers in the team’s straight-set loss to the defending champions Creamline Cool Smashers, 19-25, 19-25, 18-25, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Tuesday, January 21.
Despite starting her Capital1 journey on a rough note, the 24-year-old player, who put up 10 points, is still happy to finally be with the Solar Spikers on the court.
“Super happy, sobrang saya makabalik sa taraflex at makalaro na sa bago kong team. Sa nilaro po namin ngayon, para sakin, okay siya kasi nakipagsabayan po kami, knowing Creamline na defending champion talaga,” Genesis told reporters after the match.
“Parang fresh nga ulit sa PVL kasi new system, ibang taong kasama, mga never kong nakasama dati pa, even the coaches. Talagang back to zero,” she added.
The former Adamson standout had been with the Akari Chargers and Nxled Chameleons to start her PVL career.
But after a few years with the franchise, Genesis believed it was time for a change of scenery.
“Personal reason po talaga kaya ako nag-move to Capital1,” said Genesis. “Sobrang hirap at habang proseso na pinagdaanan bago po ako makalipat dito. Finally, natapos din kung ano man yung naging problemang yun at eto, makakapaglaro na.”
Now with her new team and under coach Roger Gorayeb, Genesis hopes to repay the franchise's trust and patience as Capital1 hopes to turn things around after its 1-5 start to the All-Filipino Conference.
“Siguro po maibalik ‘yung effort, ‘yung mga ginawa nila for me, ‘yung mga tiwala na binibigay po sa akin, especially the owners. Talagang every game, pipilitin ko pong maglaro, 101% ko ibibigay lagi,” Genesis emphasized.
The Solar Spikers will gun for their second win against the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles on Saturday, January 25 at the PhilSports Arena.
