Another game, another victory for the Creamline Cool Smashers.

The defending champions are fresh off a clean sweep of the Chery Tiggo Crossovers, 25-17, 25-17, 25-21, in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Thursday, Feb. 6.

While still undefeated in the conference, coach Sherwin Meneses and the Cool Smashers aren’t letting their perfect record get to them.

"Siguro same lang nung every game na pakiramdam namin kasi hindi naman namin tini-take advantage 'yung 8-0, basta kami one game at a time lang kami,” Meneses said during the post-game press conference.

“Siyempre, masaya maganda ‘yung nagiging resulta ng games pero sa tingin ko mahaba pa yung pagdadaanan namin talaga kasi sobrang haba ng conference. Du'n muna kami naka-focus sa every game na gagawin namin,” he added.

This was the same sentiment shared by Bea De Leon, who starred in the match with 13 points on eight attacks, two blocks, and three service aces.

Over a year since joining Creamline from Choco Mucho, De Leon has seen plenty of success with the team, including a grand slam run last season.

Still, the 28-year-old is sometimes left in awe with the hunger and determination of her teammates to compete at a high level every single game.

“Ako actually, relatively [new] ako dito so from the outside coming in, hangang-hanga ako sa mindset nila kasi kahit ganun na kataas ‘yung naabot nila, the work ethic is still so high,” De Leon explained.

“Ang taas ng disiplina, ang taas lagi ng level ng training and ‘yun nakaka-motivate ‘yun on my part na makita kasi despite all the greatness they’ve already done, it’s still 100% all in as if hindi pa kami nananalo before. Talagang hangang-hanga rin ako with that part,” she added.

In the end, De Leon attributed all of this to the culture that Alyssa Valdez built with the team.

“I think it’s very innate din eh so culture thing siya, especially with ate Ly establishing it na we keep going, we keep learning. Kahit ano pa naabot natin, there’s always room for more,” said De Leon.
