Two days after her first wedding ceremony, Michele Gumabao suited up in Creamline’s dominant sweep of Nxled, 25-18, 25-17, 25-17, in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference qualifying round Thursday, Feb. 27.

Playing in just two sets, Gumabao contributed seven points, marking her return for the Cool Smashers after missing their last outing due to wedding preparations.

When asked about her and husband Aldo Panlilio's decision to have two wedding ceremonies, the Creamline star offered a simple explanation.

“I'm Christian, so we really intended to have a Christian wedding at first,” Gumabao told reporters after the match.

“But then, Aldo's family is Catholic, so they also wanted a Catholic ceremony. So we agreed to have both.”

The couple held their Catholic wedding at the National Shrine of the Sacred Heart in Makati City.

It was attended by her family and friends, including her Creamline teammates and management.

Meanwhile, the second ceremony, a Christian wedding, will be held in March.

Now that she’s married, Gumabao admits that she is still trying to process everything that has happened in the past few days.

“Feeling ko nga hindi pa nagsi-sync in sa'kin, eh. Kasi we have one more [wedding ceremony] in a few weeks. But after so long: We’ve been together for eight years,” the 32-year-old spiker said.

Nonetheless, Gumabao is excited to start the new chapter and soon start a family with her husband.

“It’s not the finish line, but, actually, the starting line of something new for us. So, I’m excited and looking forward to a new life that we can start together and a family that we can also build together in a few years,” Gumabao bared.

“Hopefully, with the support of everyone around us, sana rin talaga we can build a family like kung paano kami pinalaki ng mga magulang namin,” she added.
