The Petro Gazz Angels exacted revenge against the Creamline Cool Smashers after taking down the defending champions in four sets in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference semifinals.
The Petro Gazz Angels scored a crucial four-set victory over the defending champion Creamline Cool Smashers, 25-23, 25-22, 21-25, 25-16, in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference semifinals at the Ynares Center on Saturday, March 29.
In front of 5,915 spectators in Antipolo, the Angels played a near-perfect game to deal the Cool Smashers only their second loss in the conference, avenging their opening-day defeat last October.
Despite faltering in the third set, Petro Gazz showed no signs of being under pressure as Brooke Van Sickle and Ranya Musa pushed their squad ahead in the fourth set, 8-3.
Creamline tried to mount a comeback, but Jonah Sabete and MJ Phillips had other plans as they extended Petro Gazz’s lead to seven points at 17-10.
From there, the Angels closed out the defending champions as Bea de Leon’s service error sealed the victory.
Sabete was hailed the Player of the Game with 19 points on 14 attacks and five blocks.
Petro Gazz will gun for another win in the semifinals when they take on the Choco Mucho Flying Titans at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Tuesday, April 1.
