“Walang pinagbago sa kayabangan.”

That is how former Ateneo Blue Eagles guard Jai Reyes described his former college teammate Eric Salamat when they got back together wearing the blue and white on Saturday at the Alumni 30s division of the Pinoyliga Cup.

Reyes, Salamat, and other Ateneo alums like Kiefer Ravena, Chibueze Ikeh, and Bacon Austria won in their match against the stalwarts of the Benilde Blazers, 101-95.

In the process, Salamat was able to do just Eric Salamat things.

From the left wing, the former PBA second round draft pick crossed from right to left, spun right back, and then stepped back behind the 3-point line for good measure—to nail a trifecta in the face of RJ Deles. Count the basket and the foul.

And as if that wasn’t enough, Salamat gave Deles a salute—rubbing salt into the wound of humiliation.

Reyes was quick to point the shenanigan out on his Instagram story after the game, emphasizing how his former teammate has never changed. The two were members of the Ateneo squads that won the championships in UAAP Season 71 and 72.

Salamat notched 24 points, 12 boards, 3 assists, and 3 steals in the game, while Reyes paced the team in scoring with 26 points alongside 7 assists.

Ikeh and Ravena added 16 and 12, respectively.

Benilde’s Aaron Umlas scored 21 markers, grabbed 5 boards, and dished out 2 assists in the losing effort.

Must be a good day to represent the Blue Eagles again. Just ask Jai.
