As a member of the UST girls volleyball team, Alyssa Valdez showed a lot of promise.
But her career went off and reached greater heights when she joined the Ateneo Blue Eagles in college.
Dubbed as the “Phenom,” Valdez would captain the Ateneo “Heartstrong” teams and steer them to two championships in the UAAP.
But the former UAAP MVP, who now suits up for the Creamline Cool Smashers in the pros, also had plenty of help. Denden Lazaro-Revilla and Bea Tan also played a pivotal role in those conquests.
The three sat down in the first episode of the Aces and reminisced about the good old days. In the preview of the said episode, Tan posed an existential question. “How would it be like kaya to be in another team other than being in Ateneo,” Tan said.
Revilla’s response was expected.
“I can’t even imagine,” said the decorated libero.
The preview ended with Valdez initiating a group hug while saying how grateful she was to play alongside the two.
“And we would shout heartstrong!” she said. “Wow, it’s so nice to play with you.”
