Bella Belen emphasized the NU Lady Bulldogs' goal of collective improvement over individual stardom in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament.
The NU Lady Bulldogs are looking more and more dangerous as the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament progresses.
But it's not just one player doing the damage for the team, it's all of them.
In their clean straight-sets victory over the UE Lady Red Warriors on Sunday, March 10, NU coach Norman Miguel was able to field all 14 Lady Bulldogs in the match that lasted just 69 minutes.
To make the win more impressive, all players, excluding the liberos, scored at least two points in the victory.
"Masaya kami dahil nag-continue 'yung winning streak and then na-field in lahat ng players namin and nag-perform and contribute ng points," Miguel said during the post-game press conference.
Bella Belen, who led NU with another all-around performance of 11 points to go along with 10 excellent digs and five excellent receptions, was also pleased with the team's performance, emphasizing their goal of improving as one unit.
"We're really happy kasi nakita namin na lahat kaya mag-contribute sa team," said Belen. "'Yung goal namin is we're not building a star player talaga. Gusto namin lahat kami paangat, gusto namin walang naiiwan."
After their slow start to the season, the Lady Bulldogs are rounding out their form before the end of the first round.
Up next for NU will be the defending champions De La Salle University on Saturday, March 16 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum at 2:00 p.m.
