Angge Poyos reset the UAAP rookie scoring record in the University of Santo Tomas' 22-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-23 bounce-back win against Adamson University in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday, April 3.

Poyos finished with 31 points on 27 attacks, one block, and three aces as the Golden Tigresses also secured the first Final Four slot of the season. The UST star broke the previous record of 30 points, set by fellow super rookie Casiey Dongallo for UE earlier this year.

UST looked poised for a strong game after bowing to National University last March 24. But after trailing for most of the first set, the Lady Falcons managed to find their groove to steal the frame at 25-22.

The Golden Tigresses, however, did not let this get to them as they came roaring back in the second set and later escaped with the third set as well after a crucial tip and service ace by middle blocker Bianca Plaza.

As the fourth set ensued, the Golden Tigresses and Lady Falcons were neck-and-neck once more, until Poyos delivered three-straight points for UST to give them a four-point lead at 19-15.

UST then continued to pounce on Adamson through Regina Jurado, Jonna Perido, and Mae Coronado as the España-based squad grabbed their 9th win in Season 86.
