The UE Red Warriors are for real.

The Recto-based team extended their decade-best win streak to four games as they staged a fourth quarter comeback against the Ateneo Blue Eagles, 69-62, in their penultimate game in Round 1 of UAAP Season 87 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday.

In a game of runs, the Red Warriors rode a fourth quarter surge where they outscored the Blue Eagles, 32-17, to take solo third in the standings at 4-2. The win assured them of a winning record by the end of the first half of the season.

But more importantly, ended a nine-year drought against the Blue Eagles who fell to a 1-5 slate this season.

UE last won over the Blue Eagles back in November 14, 2015, when the Red Warriors – then led by the likes of Chris Javier and Clark Derige – won in the first round, 74-69.

Precious Momowei continued his fine play for the Red Warriors with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Wello Lingolingo also had an efficient game of 13 points built off of 4-of-5 shooting.

UE thus brings immense momentum when they face the Adamson Soaring Falcons on Sunday, October 6, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
